Douglas Orr Plumbing, Inc. maintains the safest possible working conditions on all construction projects, on plumbing repair jobs in Miami, Ft Lauderdale & Broward. Workplace safety and health orientation begin on the first day of initial employment or job transfer. Each employee receives a copy of the company safety manual, from his or her supervisor for review and future reference, and is given a personal copy of the safety rules, policies, and procedures pertaining to his or her job. As a union employer, the company’s plumbers have obtained knowledge and skills through the union’s apprenticeship program, and are members of the union’s drug and alcohol abuse program. This, of course, limits the kinds of senseless accidents that can result from the use of controlled substances in the workplace. Douglas Orr Plumbing, Inc.’s overall safety and health records are excellent On larger construction projects, safety meetings, held weekly, discuss job specifics. The general contractor receives minutes of these meetings. For smaller construction projects, Douglas Orr Plumbing, Inc… addresses safety in two ways: 1) the superintendant, service coordinator, or project manager discusses any safety-related issues and 2) at monthly shop meetings that underscores shop news, code changes, shop procedure changes, and any safety-related issues.
The following are some of the issues that are discussed at safety meetings:
HAZMAT – Confined Space Entry – First Aid
HAZCOM – Trenches/Excavations – Rigging
Electrical Principles – Scaffolding – Lifting Basics
Electrical Emergency – Tripping Hazards – Drugs-Substance Abuse
